After much debate on whether to sign up for the half or full
Inaugural Seattle Rock 'n' Roll Marathon, I have decided upon the half. I haven't ran a full marathon since March 2006 in Los Angeles and after looking at the course map for the full, I just don't feel quite prepared. I had put my registration off for a couple of months now and after receiving an email last night that the half was 90% full I realized it was time to bite the bullet and pay my $100 ($90 with a coupon code I found). Yes, paying to run - to some of you that may be a bit foreign, but for those in the running world, it's something you must do in order to participate in these amazing events.

For any of you out there that are contemplating ever running a half marathon, I highly recommend it. I became a more serious runner four years ago and I love the way my body feels after a long run. My training for the LA Marathon involved runs along the Pacific Ocean through Venice and Santa Monica. It's not quite the same in the NW, but I still love a run through Seattle/Bellevue - please honk or wave if you see me out there this weekend taking full advantage of the warm weather.

Good job Coffey! I am so proud of you. I want to run a half/full at some point in my life. I just am scared to do it.
Pay to run? Fun? Feels good? Yes, all foreign to me! Way to go on all of your running success. Someday I hope to be a runner, but for now I'm going to stick to walking :)
You can do it! I'm so proud of you. You're gonna do awesome. w00t, w00t!
Go you! I make it a point to only run when chased :)
When is it??
yeah you go girl! I will stick with my 2 mile runs :) xo
I may be right there with you. I have a race (9 miles) on Memorial Day weekend. I am waiting to see how that feels and then I'll decide. Looks like a FUN race!!
I did the Rock and Roll 1/2 Marathon in Phoenix this year while preggers. It is totally do-able for those who are scared of it. I loved the way pride I felt at the finish line that I had accomplished a huge personal goal. I wish I was could do this one too because you get a really cool medal and a free beer! Good for you Coffey. Do you use the Nike + Ipod thing? I loved it while training.
Oh I know I really should do this with you...I need to get back into training for sure. Maybe we can plan on going to San Diego instead and running that one together, Full!
I honestly believe that everyone can run a half marathon - once you can run 7 miles, you can definitely do 13. Keep in mind - you don't have to run FAST to run a half marathon, the goal is to finish.
Tara - no, I don't use the Nike+ipod thing because I wear Asics shoes.
Grout - YES! We still need to run a marathon together - let's sign up! How about the Sunriver one?
